Oh dear, as soon as I click on to your blog, pop up adverts invade the screen and I can hardly see what you've written and there doesn't appear any way I can clear the screen of the pesky things. There is an advert for Aegean Airline on now, and Hotter shoes were across the bottom of the screen, but those have now disappeared. What a shame as I enjoy your blog, but pop up ads are a pesky nuisance, aren't they? Margaret P
I'm so sorry about this. Someone else has mentioned it and it is something quite beyond my control. As a logged in user, I never see the pesky things. Do you use an ad blocker? Might help.
I'm reading my way through the Furrowed Middlebrow books and my absolute favourite (so far) is Elizabeth Fair. Only six books, all early post WW2, then she stopped - even though she lived until the 1990s. Like a gentler, kinder Angela Thirkell and laced with humour and sharp observation. Lovely. I also loved 'The Lark' by Edith Nesbitt - set in 1919 and great fun.
