A few days ago [profile] huskyteer thoughtfully sent me a link to Lidl’s site, where they were offering these clogs. for £2.99. I’m too late now but I was tempted. It’s so useful to have a pair of clogs by the door when you just want to pop out to hang out the washing or pull up a weed you’ve noticed. I do have a pair but they are proper wooden ones and I always feel somewhat precariously balanced on them. How women used to manage pattens I can’t imagine. For more boots
Here's probably the most famous horticultural footwear in the world,

Miss Jekyll's gardening boots, painted by Sir William Nicholson. What I'd really like is something like the ones modelled here by Vita Sackville-West.

Knowing her, though, they were probably bespoke. Plus, I would need her legs, which Virginia Woolf said were 'the most remarkable thing about her'. Mine are on the stumpy side. So here to round off are Callmemadam's boots!

You may not be too late - I'll have a look when I go hunting for bike stuff on Thursday.

Your boots-n-daffs pic is lovely. Office has wellies with cats and dogs on - want!

I assumed the clogs had gone because they're no longer coming up on the site under our postcode.

Glad you like the pic: may turn it into a gardening icon. The biggest thing I'm likely to find in my boots is a spider. Aargh.

I have a rather splendid pair of stripy wellies, but my current favourite footwear are my red
which are rarely off my feet these days.

Red Crocs? I looked them up: ooh, tempting. My green wellies are ancient and were bought in a sale. I need them a size too big so I can wear thick socks for winter gardening but then my feet are squelching around in them in summer. I once saw a woman gardening in high heels but I'm like Pigpen for attracting dirt as soon as I go out. My gardening clothes consist of second hand joggers and a jumble sale (but Harrods!) quilted hacking jacket.
