Tottering down the garden path

huskyteer thoughtfully sent me a link to Lidl’s site, where they were offering these clogs. for £2.99. I’m too late now but I was tempted. It’s so useful to have a pair of clogs by the door when you just want to pop out to hang out the washing or pull up a weed you’ve noticed. I do have a pair but they are proper wooden ones and I always feel somewhat precariously balanced on them. How women used to manage pattens I can’t imagine. For more boots
Here's probably the most famous horticultural footwear in the world,

Miss Jekyll's gardening boots, painted by Sir William Nicholson. What I'd really like is something like the ones modelled here by Vita Sackville-West.

Knowing her, though, they were probably bespoke. Plus, I would need her legs, which Virginia Woolf said were 'the most remarkable thing about her'. Mine are on the stumpy side. So here to round off are Callmemadam's boots!
