With deer in the garden nearly every day, I understand why previous residents didn't plant roses here. Roses are just about their favourite nosh. The creatures seem to leave this wall rose alone, though. I think it's 'Buff Beauty' and I can't seem to get a good photograph of it. Very pretty mixed up with the clematis and honeysuckle.

I like the impression of sweet neglect.

Have the deer got young ones yet?

Thank you! It's one of those which changes colour at all stages.

I think the currently troublesome ones are adolescents which have been cast off to fend for themselves. There was a baby but I can't remember which month of the year it was born in. All the nuzzling and protectiveness was very sweet.

How very lovely! I think that roses must be deer candy. We've had to put a net barrier around ours.
