I am what I am: switched off
Jul. 14th, 2008 07:43 pmThe current Orange ads are madly irritating. What was Rose Tremain thinking? Money, I expect; I don't blame her. I've enjoyed her books, now her voice is one of several driving me to switching off point. In contrast, Peter O'Toole's 'For All You Are' advertisement for The Sunday Times is uncannily similar yet watchable. 'And in between - I've done a bit of acting'. You terrible old actor, she sa fondly.

Date: 2008-07-14 07:00 pm (UTC)And I've just discovered that if I watch programmes via the catch up service, they don't have ads in at all, even the Channel 4 ones, so I don't even have to fast forward. This has made me very happy - the Virgin tv service is one of the best things I spend my money on, I feel as though I'm in charge of the tv, instead of it ruling my life. And it records whole series for me with one click! I love it.

Date: 2008-07-14 07:40 pm (UTC)I don't subscribe to any service but the Toppi provides Freeview (I watch a lot of ITV 3 these days), records one thing while you watch another, let's you watch the start of the programme you're recording even when it's half way through and is generally wonderful. So yes, I usually white and yellow button my way through the ads these days but sometimes I'm trapped, as when I have Classic FM on.
I like the sound of no ads at all.
