I really enjoyed Salem Falls by Jodi Picoult. Then I tackled Cloud Atlas by David Mitchell and I have given up. Exciting? As exciting as porridge. Best read of the year (Richard & Judy). What? The narrative is confusing, the style irritating and the story, er what story? I just can't see where it's going. I am however loving Thunder and Lightnings by Jan Mark, also lent me by [profile] huskyteer, which I think is very much influenced by the writings of William Mayne.

Me too! Though Black Swan Green is much better - less experimental but far more readable.

Thanks, folks. I feel less of a reading failure now.

Golly. I loved it, and found Black Swan Green good but much more ordinary.
