Good question! I don't see why they can't move the quizzes over to BBC 4, which is showing nothing but very old sit-coms all evening. Only Connect is not only fiendishly difficult but is extremely popular.
Only on sports night, you mean, or permanently? Because if permanently, poor sports-hating people like me would not be able to watch it (I only have BBC 1 and 2).
Whatever happened to the programming on BBC 4? It used to be such a cultural channel which I regretted not being able to watch, but now it looks more like BBC First.
I meant just for this evening. For some unexplained reason, BBC 4 is showing nothing but old comedy the whole of this week. You're right about the programming. It used to be my go-to channel for cultural, intelligent programmes. Now we just get a few, like the Ralph Fiennes one I wrote about recently. Believe it or not, the BBC in its (lack of) wisdom, is ditching BBC 4 altogether, even though it has more viewers than BBC 3, which for a while was digital only. It's part of its mad quest for a non-existent youth audience.
Can you get Sky Arts? It's available here as a Freeview channel and is now the only dedicated arts channel on TV.
Sadly not just for this week - it's definitely next week as well (as per Radio Times) and my husband tells me until the rugby is over. :-(
It still throws me that they now have Only Connect before University Challenge. Fortunately I usually watch them on catch up so can have them in the right order.
I'd have been okay as I like rugby but I always feel that if anything is going to get cancelled they should move it to another channel. BBC have plenty to choose from.
Yes, especially as on BBC 4 this evening there's only repeats of old sit-coms we've all seen before. I know it's pathetic, but it has really put me out. I am a creature of habit.
