Strange times

Classic FM is playing only soothing (and rather sad) music and *no advertisements*. Nor is my inbox cluttered up with advertising offers. The only commercial company to email me today has been Marks and Spencer and their mail consisted just of a photograph of the Queen and rather a nice tribute. Sporting events have been cancelled, as have the proms and even strikes. This national mourning is being taken really seriously.

How long will it take for us to get used to hearing what ‘the King’ has said?

I've been listening to the House of Commons tributes. Theresa May made a sweet and amusing tribute. I also liked Justin Trudeau's - so heartfelt.

The only commercial email I've had is a shoe company advertising their new boots. I unsubscribed them!

I thought I was the only one who thinks "spaniel" whenever I hear King Charles but my friend emailed me to say how sad she was about the Queen and said the same thing!

Eddie is getting too big for his paws now he’s realised he is a King Charles Spaniel. Should I put his Union Jack bow tie on or get him a black one?

I think he’s hoping to be invited to the coronation.

I don't expect the coronation will be for a long time yet so I think he could wear his Union Jack before then, bless him.

I think I shall always think of Charles as "Prince Charles," even if he is now King. Newscasters around the world are stumbling over the new title. I hope Charlie can find a worthy role for himself as the new king.

Charles has been preparing for this all his life, so he knows what is expected of him. What does worry me rather is his age. Have you seen the schedule he and Camilla have to follow before the funeral? It's punishing and these are people in their seventies.
