They clump up quite slowly (that may be due to my dry soil) and certainly don't ramp. I believe you can divide them and so encourage them to spread but I've never bothered. They grow from tubers. You just had to have it? I know, I know. It's as bad as buying books.

PS to above: like so many woodland plants they disappear completely in the summer, so don't think it's dead.
