Curious word facts

Everyone is doing this, even Aled Jones on the radio this morning. Here you can look up words that first appeared in print in the year of your birth. Most of mine seem very technical but one is ‘vodka martini’. Who knew?

Yes, I thought nerd was much more modern (thinking of computer nerds) and also that support groups were a newer invention :)

The words from my year are obviously from an American dictionary. It would be fun to see what British dictionaries included each year.

Yes, it is American and you're right about the British dictionaries. I wonder what the differences would be?

One word for my birth year is aromatase, which is such a coincidence, because last night I discovered to my dismay that I had run out of the aromatase inhibitor tablets I have to take every day, so I had to go to the pharmacy this morning to order more :-/

I'll have to look that one up! Sorry you have to take it. I find getting my repeat prescriptions a complete pain :-(
