Barry Humphries on the wireless

photo Telegraph (which also has a rave review by Gillian Reynolds).
Listening to Radio 2 at 10pm is not usually part of my routine, but I’ve been making an exception for a wonderful little series: Barry’s Forgotten Musical Masterpieces, in which the antipodean polymath reflects on his early life and plays an eclectic range of tracks. Yesterday’s gems included John Mills singing A Little White Room from a review of 1937. The song was written by Beverley Nichols. If that’s not recherché enough for you, I don’t know what is. He ended the programme with Noël Coward’s lovely I’ll See You Again.
