Well I suppose it's marginally more honest than buying up books you never intend to read just to make it look like a library. I do love the colour coded look. I used to have my shelves arranged like that but then I moved and everything's a bit more mixed up again.
Yes, I'm always shocked when people offer books for sale 'to complete your vintage decor'. I suppose colour coding is as good a way of arranging books as any other and looks pretty.
There's a pub in Winchester with book-lined walls. Got me very excited until I realised they had CUT the books off leaving the spine and about 2" of book, and glued them on to the shelves! Never been back there. (I didn't dare look too closely in case I spotted something I desperately wanted - would have been too upsetting!)
