A very happy St Nicholas’ day to all who celebrate it.

I see the Downing Street tree is up. I’ll wait a while for mine. I have: received my first Christmas card yesterday; made a Christmas cake; wrapped and packed the presents which have to go in the post. Next up, must start writing cards. I have a couple of lost or wrong addresses. debodacious, yours is one.



Here’s a lovely surprise Advent calendar I was given. It’s from the Bodleian and each window opens to reveal a Christmassy book plus information about it. I love it.

Thank you for the well-wishes! In the Netherlands we celebrate St Nicholas' Eve (the 5th), so we were let off early yesterday. Which was nice.

Oh lovely Advent Calendar! Inspired. Your Christmas cake is delicious I know for a fact:) I was delighted to get my first Christmas card yesterday too. I love the run up to Christmas. Just hope it won't snow this year!

Your advent calendar is wonderful!

You seem to be quite well organised with regards Christmas. Do you make your own marzipan and icing? SIL Daniel makes his own. He makes a lovely cake. I'm useless ;)

LJ was hopeless all day yesterday, with just the occasional window when it worked.

Once upon a time, I made my own marzipan, icing and even mincemeat. Not any more.
