This morning I opened a book I took out of the library a couple of days ago and found this arresting sticker inside:

It's the first I've seen and I must say I don't like being put under pressure.
The book? Agatha Raisin As the Pig Turns.

I haven't seen a sticker like that, but the last library I worked in issued high-demand books on shorter loans - two weeks instead of three, I think.

I think our limit is two weeks for everything. If people are so keen to read a book, they could reserve it.

Oh, of course. The problem we had was a few idiot library staff who would override the "do not renew" notice on reserved books. Not that the shorter (and non-renewable) loan period solved that problem, of course ... Human stupidity, don't you love it?

No!

I don't approve of those stickers at all - very rude. The joy of reading should be leisurely, not rushed and time-limited. Grrr.
