Garden news again: more visitors

A charming sight at lunchtime: a hen pheasant with seven young ones walking behind her in a line. After a while the babies disappeared but Mama sat on the fence for ages and took no notice of me, even when I opened the door to get the post.

One of the funniest things I've ever seen is a line of teenage pheasants who ran along in front of Howard's bike as if he was herding them.

I always get annoyed by exhortations to 'encourage wildlife into your garden'. In my experienece, it needs no encouragement at all!
