I loved Linda Gillard's Star Gazing. Now she has a new book out, House of Silence but here's the rub: it's only available as an e-book. I got this heads-up from the Cornflower blog, where Linda says this is due to 'the intransigence of publishers.' Are they nuts? Star Gazing was so well received, you'd think they'd be glad to publish more of her books. I've downloaded this and started reading it in bed last night. So far, so loving it.

By the way, it's a miracle if you can read this as Live Journal seems almost permanently down at the moment and I'm having difficulty posting, hence my grumpy mood.

Remember how interesting you made Star Gazing. It seems so odd to publish only as an e-book at this stage of the game doesn't it? As the author I'd be annoyed that's for sure. So glad Live Journal is working well enough for your post to come through - hope it stops misbehaving now!

Sales seem good so far but of course without a physical book there can be no library royalties so the author loses out there.

Oh, isn't it annoying? I am dying to post about the rally.

It took me three goes to post that short piece. The whole page wouldn't display, so you could write the text but not actually post. Or use preview because that locked everything. I'm seriously thinking of having another blog elsewhere.

Pleased to hear you're enjoying HOUSE OF SILENCE so far. I've e-published it myself because no publisher was interested. They all said the book would be difficult to market as it belonged to no clear genre.

Ridiculous! I'm enjoying the book very much and hope it's a big e-success for you.
