In August, the heating came on. We all said, ‘Oh, there’ll be an Indian Summer’ and we were right. I just tottered up to the village shop and people were sunbathing outside the pub. There’s some pretty autumn pictures on this charming German site. Herbstlaub. What a nice word.
Now, how much longer will the pelargoniums last in an unheated greenhouse?

Bad luck! It was dark and miserable here this time yesterday.

That pelargonium is lovely! It was warm and pleasant here yesterday but today is dark and gloomy and the leaves are really starting to fall. I would like some more Indian summer, please.

It's 'Lord Bute', a great favourite of mine.

The leaves are hardly turning here, except the horse chestnuts. Perhaps your pleasant weather will come back tomorrow.

Thank you - I shall make a note in my gardening diary for next year and acquire one. I haven't had much success growing regals in recent years, but I've got one which is doing well on my windowsill. If I clear all the office stuff off (where to, I wonder?), I could fit a couple more on. They are very cheering when I'm working :)
