It was such a murky, miserable morning that I nearly didn’t go to the market. Somehow, I felt lucky so I did make the effort and the car boot sellers were out in force, many with boxes of old books: just what I like.

This lot cost me £7.00 and the E M Delafield books are a particularly good find. I also bought this sweet little Coronation tin for 50p.

Not bad!

Lovely haul!

I didn't know Margaret Atwood had been published in Virago.

The tin reminds me that I have only three episodes left to go in my A2A rewatch.

Lucky me.:-) I've never read anything by Margaret Atwood; something in me has resisted her for years. Maybe this is where I'll break my duck.

Lovely find. I do like those particular Heyer editions, and Frederica is one of my favourites.

I already had both Heyers but I'm always happy to upgrade. I like Frederica, too.

Thank you! I'm as keen on second-hand bargains as you are.

What a lovely haul.

I have just found a new author I think you might like - Victoria Clayton? She wrote The Winter of Enchantment and A House Called Hadlows under her maiden name, which aren't my cup of tea, but I have just started Clouds Among the Stars and am loving it.

Thanks! I didn't buy those Victoria Clayton books whe they were republished because I didn't think they were at all my sort of thing. If you like the other one, though, I might, too :-)

I remembered your liking for them when I was washing it! Most of the ones I see are more expensive than that.

What a nice lot of finds, especially the Delafields! Around here it's getting harder and harder to find older titles, as the shops don't seem to want to carry them and the sales usually consist of much newer things.

That's so true here, too. The charity (thrift) shops only seem to have modern paperbacks these days. Your best hope of finds is where people are house clearing and just want to be rid of things.

Lovely haul and look! The Young Stepmother. I was brought up on that, one of my favourites from my favourite Victorian author, Charlotte Yonge. I can see I'm going to have to trundle down to Wimborne market again some Saturday!

Thank you! I love The Young Step-Mother. I already have a copy but I couldn't leave it there. The thing with the market is that you can go week after week and get nothing and then bingo!

A coincidence that you found a Charlotte Yonge and a Hazel Holt, as Hazel loves the books of Charlotte and her sleuth heroine, Mrs Malory, is an authority on Charlotte!
