I bought a basket of hyacinths in bud twelve days ago and today they've started to open. Worth every penny.

Oh how lovely! It was so cold today, and this gives me hope that spring isn't that far away.

I love hyacinths and their scent, but unfortunately the scent is too strong to keep them in my one-room apartment, I would wake up with a raging headache every morning.

There are primroses in the garden (I think they flower here every day of the year) but no snowdrops or anything seasonal so I'm glad to have something indoors. I love the scent but wouldn't sleep on the same room, either. Very cold here, too, and forecast to be colder. Why we need flowers.

I felt that this morning, even though it was so cold out. We really notice the longer days now.
