Jackson Brodie III
Aug. 20th, 2008 08:36 amA ‘bad wrist’ is a good excuse to explain how I’ve managed to read Kate Atkinson’s When Will There be Good News? so quickly. That and the fact that it’s a cracking read. This is the third of her novels to feature likeable Jackson Brodie: ex-army, ex-police and still a man who attracts trouble like Pigpen attracts dirt. Less mysterious than Case Histories; not as busy with plot and characters as One Good Turn, it still grips from the first page to the last, with an unexpected twist at the end. Around page 34 I fell in love with one of the characters and desperately wanted things to come right for her; she’s a remarkable creation. Will we get any more about Jackson? I do hope so.
