I wasn’t surprised to read this story in The Times this morning. Years ago, I saw some French visitors in our local supermarket. They were loading up their trolley with Mr Kipling cakes.

I wonder if I can find a French person who'd be interested in swapping Mr Kipling cakes for BN biscuits?

Yes, what happened to BNs? I used to buy them in Safeway's.

but Mr Kipling cakes are horrible! I think they have a nasty texture and they are much too sweet (and I am speaking as someone with a very sweet tooth). I would swap them for some patisserie cakes anyday.

And goodness knows what's in them!

Weird! There's that creamy stuff under the icing in the French Fancies that I have always supposed was Gripfix glue. What else could it be? it's certainly not a natural substance.
