I've been looking at the current issue of Country Living magazine in an attempt to forget moving hassles and instead indulge in happy fantasies about dressing my cottage when I get it. What sort of loo roll holder shall I get? Do I need a new doormat? How about a hand carved boot rack? :-)
The mag has been running a competition about uses for old Bonne Maman jam jars. This reminds me horribly of an advertising campaign of yesteryear, called 'How Other People Take Their Horlicks', as if anybody cared. 'Tsk', says I, in my best Wendy Weber manner, 'Get a life!'. Then I looked in one of my kitchen cupboards (emptying fast) and found:

a Bonne Maman jar containing cinammon sticks. How sickeningly predictable of me.

Haha! Mine have buttons in them. They are the right height to fit standing up in my sewing box.

They are both decorative and useful, I must admit.

i never want to throw away orangina bottles. they look so sweet, but really apart from using one as
a vase, what could you do with them? i like bonne maman lids so wholesome looking and their cerises griottes is yummy.

Orangina? Never 'ad it. I see some Bonne Maman lids are green. Where do they come from?

I don't think I've ever bought a jar of Bonne Maman. I try to buy British preserves when I can.

'just shabby'
I bet it doesn't look like that to other people and you have better things to do than agonise about where precisely to place your latest 'vintage' find.

Ha ha! It's a brilliant marketing wheeze for what is after all a mass produced product. We used to bring it back from France years ago, before you could get it here.
