No sooner do I finish one pair of socks than I cast on the next. I must have the get ready for winter bug.

These are knitted in Opal Planète ‘Rosa’. It's nice yarn and knits up quickly. I still prefer Colinette Jitterbug to all the other sock yarns I've tried.

My first attempt at a mirror pic. Note that I was too lazy to remove my tights or even to put the socks on straight, tsk. They don't match! I know; I don't care. If I used the yarn again I would know that there's plenty of it and wind through to start with the same colour for each sock.

I really like Jitterbug too. I found it can felt a bit. The soles of my socks felted slightly inside my hiking boots, but I quite like the felted soles. A friend who machine washes everything tried Jitterbug and hated it.

Have you seen Colinette's new shades? They're strengthening the number of solids in the range. My favourite solids are still Salty Dog and Elephant's Daydream, though.

We have a jumper in One Zero in our next issue - designed just for us. It's really, really lovely and I'm having to quell the urge to buy the yarn for it. I bought the yarn to make the cardi on the cover of issue 39 and I haven't even cast that on yet! Ah, but this One Zero jumper is something very special. Chunky yet romantic.

'Salty Dog and Elephant's Daydream'
Worth it for the names!

'a jumper in One Zero'
I just looked up the yarn: drool! Then I quickly escaped from the August specials to avoid temptation.

I think the fact that they don't match makes them look really cool. Just like the shoes you can buy nowadays where the left one looks different from the right (Camper Twins for instance).

It's funny, I have no problems at all with making cardigans from Noro with the stripes all over the place, but I match my socks obsessively. It helps that I know that a standard 400m ball of sock yarn has enough for three socks for me, so I can cut out bits without worrying about running out. I'm trying to match Noro socks at the moment, which is more tricky but seems to be working. Fingers crossed.

Yes, I should have realised that there's always plenty of yarn left over. Do you ever make three socks?:-)

Noro socks sound classy.
