We have just watched the BBC's Summer of Love programme, in which the usual bunch of self-promoting media folk told how they changed the world in the 1960s. Let me explain to them who really changed the world.Martin Luther King, speech in Washington DC 1963

We despised all the people who wanted to be on Union committees so it would look good on their cvs when they applied to Shell and ICI. All the nice folk went into teaching and social work. I suppose we were quite idealistic. Sigh.
