Daisies in the grass, with bug.

I was actually outside to plant potatoes and sow broad beans, as the weather is fairly clement. Here's

Choisya ternata, the #1, totally reliable evergreen shrub for clay soil. It flowers again in the autumn.

This skimmia is a choice variety I've forgotten the name of. It's grown rather large and is smothered with flowers but the leaves have never looked happy. I think it would prefer a more acid soil.

Housemartins! Not something we see here. Have you listened to the digital Birdsong radio channel?

Oh, I miss housemartins. I used to be able to lie in bed and watch them fly up to their nests under the eaves. Such a nice start to spring.

By a strange coincidence, I was listening to R4 yesterday evening and Great Animal Migrations featured housemartins, swifts & swallows. Tweet tweet!

Aw, shucks, blushes. Perhaps that thought will inspire me to do more!
