Happy Birthday, Bob!

Bob Dylan is eighty today. Good grief. The BBC has made a list of 80 things you may not know about Bob Dylan. You will know most of them but check out #79. How can you pick out a favourite Dylan song amongst so many? I can’t but I’ve always loved this. Unlike so many of his versions of his own songs, this video sounds the way you first heard it all those years ago.

There will be plenty of media coverage. This evening, Chrissie Hynde sings Dylan on Sky Arts (Freeview 11) and on Wednesday Mark Ratcliffe plays listeners’ Dylan choices on Radio2.

Hard to believe the great man is 80. The 80 things list was interesting, I did know #79 as Bob's wife was on the news recently talking about it. I know from his obituary that Bob Willis was such a fan he added Dylan as a name by deed poll. I dug around my Dylan collection last week and I have my choice of song ready to post later. I will be watching Sky Arts, the Chrissie Hynde one and the programme following, Bob Dylan:30th Anniversary Concert.

The 30th anniversary concert was on quite recently, so I've seen it: lots of famous people singing Bob's songs, then he appears at the end and they all sing together. Too many of them are now dead :-(

Wot weather! Standing water on the drive and hailstones still lying on the grass! Hard to believe it's June next week.

Weather is much better here today, mostly sunny but a coolish breeze in the open. Let's hope that June is better.
