I’ve started watching the old BBC series of The Box of Delights, just one episode at a time. It did the trick; partly nostalgia but mostly the music. Here’s the original from Hely-Hutchinson’s Carol Symphony.

Oh, I love The Box of Delights, and the music. I have it on DVD so must dig it out to watch. Perfect Christmas watching! I'm in the Christmas zone (the 1st of December and all that) and have got my basket of Christmas DVD's out of the cabinet as well as having a Christmas list at Netflix and Amazon.

I'm watching the DVD but you can also see it on YouTube. People seem to have such fond memories of it! I can't help thinking there was more good stuff for children on television when my daughter was the right age for it than there is now. We used to record the children's serials and send them to friends living abroad.
