I was thinking about a huge splurge on all the Furrowed Middlebrow titles except Spam tomorrow which I've already read a few years ago but after your description of The House Opposite I might cross that off. I've really enjoyed all the Bellairs books, the library have been buying most - thankfully. I shall now see if they have the one you mention which I haven't read yet.
