Today’s book bargain

A Chelsea Concerto by Frances Faviell is currently free for the Kindle. It’s by far the best Furrowed Middlebrow book I’ve read.

Hope you enjoy it. Some of it is pretty shocking but with your interest in the war, you can stand that, I'm sure.

Furrowed Middlebrow

I'm reading my way through the Furrowed Middlebrow books and my absolute favourite (so far) is Elizabeth Fair. Only six books, all early post WW2, then she stopped - even though she lived until the 1990s. Like a gentler, kinder Angela Thirkell and laced with humour and sharp observation. Lovely.
I also loved 'The Lark' by Edith Nesbitt - set in 1919 and great fun.
