Life must be filled up

I think it's something of a shame that you've not been able to read the books isn the order that they have been written because of the on-going back story. Maisie has grown up and developed through each novel, starting as a maid in the 'big house', then her WW1 nursing service, the tragic attachment to a wounded soldier, and then the starting of her detective agency and how that has grown. They are almost like one continual read and a delight they are, too.
