Typical of the BBC that they deemed a new breakfast show on Radio 2 to be worth about five minutes of television news time plus endless trailers. And the hot issue of the weekend? What would be the first record played by Chris when the prog started up at 7 a.m. (It was All You Need Is Love by The Beatles.)

My bedroom radio is tuned to Radio 4 and as it’s the old fashioned type I can never be bothered fiddling about retuning it. So I wake up to the Today programme and tire of it very quickly. With the day underway I’ve been happy to have Terry Wogan burbling away in the background, partly because he and his listeners had a good laugh at all the ludicrous non-news stories which made me switch off Today. Now there’s Chris and his phone-ins. I don’t deny he’s a good broadcaster but he’s so shouty. I feel a switch to Classic FM coming on.

Yes I'm a bit ambivalent about Evans, too. I don't dislike him but he is shouty. I liked Terry's healthy cynicism (although sometimes the Janet and John was a bit vulgar). Can't be doing with Radio 4 until 10.00 when Women's Hour comes on and that varies in quality, too.

I have Classic FM for my weekend mornings, but so agree about Today!

Oh dear, I don't like Woman's Hour, either. I'm hard to please these days!

Today has three hours to fill, every day; 'nuff said.

I think I want to change. Never thought I'd say this....
Bring back Johnny Walker if I can't have Terry.

I like Johnnie! His show is all about the music, not about him.

I wish they'd given the job to Johnnie Walker. Chris Evans is far too loud and egotistical. I listen to a bit of the Today programme but they repeat themselves too much and I like some music too. I don't know what to listen to now!

The thing is, first thing in the morning he's Not-Terry. But he's a better Not-Terry than Chris.

Still don't quite understand why Chris starts half an hour earlier. I miss my 7.20am Show Tune which told me it was time to Get Up.

I'm up much earlier than that, unfortunately, so I don't mind the seven o'clock start. Everyone loves Show Time!

Chris is much better suited to the going home slot than to the getting up one. I think we'd all like a pleasant mix of music and chat; don't care if it is middle of the road, it suits the hour.

oooh - I love Today. I feel deprived if I don't start the day without a good belt of news. I like something I can listen to, and I tend to switch off when there's music.

There are things you don't want to hear at six o'clock! The day would seem odd without it but once I've got the bullets, that's enough.
