The Last Day of September

But you'd never guess. I nipped down to town this afternoon to go to the yarn shop. Lots of people in T shirts, the hanging baskets looking better than they have all summer; a totally mellow scene all round. I've borrowed the picture from Abbotsbury Swannery. If only I'd taken my camera, I could have shown you a picture of swans on the river with their seven cygnets. Do they always have seven? It seems to be the case here.

Oh, my gosh we went to the Swannery when we were young and footloose in 1971. I seem to recall walking across some field to get to Abbotsbury. I thought it close to heaven - the beauty of the area, the sunny weather, and those swans.

It is a beautiful spot and the gardens at Abbotsbury are well worth a visit, especially as you can walk from there down to Chesil beach.
