Not really, but it has been raining here all day. So here's a (fairly) cheerful list of rainy songs. I limited myself to ten and I had to like them. Have a go!

Raining In My Heart, Buddy Holly
A Hard Rain’s A-Gonna Fall, Bob Dylan, sung by Bryan Ferry
It Might As Well Rain Until September, Carole King
Crying In The Rain, Everly Brothers
What Have They Done To The Rain, Joan Baez
Early Morning Rain, sung by Elvis Presley
Why Does It Always Rain On Me, Travis
Rhythm Of The Rain, The Cascades
Flowers in the Rain, The Move
Here Comes the Rain Again, The Eurythmics

Also I have been looking at this on and off and wondering what's wrong with it all day. Should it be 'Il pleut'?

I wrote Il pleut but decided to check the exact quote and it's Il pleure dans mon coeur Comme il pleut sur la ville. That's from a French site; must be poetic licence. Unfortunately my books of Fr. poetry are in the chalet and I'm not going out in the rain to find them. I just found this as well, which seems to be the original manuscript.

Oh, I see. I think it may be a future form: It will rain in my heart like it is raining over the town.

Looking through iTunes I came up with this list, in more or less descending order of preference. The Eurythmics and Bob Dylan/Bryan Ferry would have been there, but I did not want to repeat your choices. :)

Famous Blue Raincoat - Leonard Cohen
Clifton in the Rain - Al Stewart
Gli impermeabili - Paolo Conte
Fire and Rain - James Taylor
Tinseltown in the Rain - Blue Nile
Suite: Clouds, Rain - David Gates
See the Sky About to Rain - Neil Young
Regen en patchouli - Spinvis
Only Happy when It Rains - Garbage
Rain on the Roof - Lovin' Spoonful

Pity you can't ask Verlaine what he meant by it! I've known the poem since I was at school without puzzling about it until I had to write it down from memory. I think it's more 'It is raining in my heart', like the song, and then 'rain falls'. I'm open to correction.

"Clifton in the Rain" made me think of "Pittsburgh in the Rain" by Leon de Graaff, an old favourite from when I just started listening to music, and which I used to have on cassette tape. A kind soul has uploaded it to YouTube just last month:

Funnily enough, after I'd done the list I found Early Morning Rain was the one I was going around humming.
