Today in the garden

Astrantia major
I love the way the flower centres are all trembly, each one like a miniature posy in itself.
Yesterday's deer was galloping up and down the garden this morning; perhaps it had forgotten the way out. Still knows where to find the strawberry leaves. Today I ate the very first strawberry fruit of the summer, right off the plant. I don't do out of season. Task of the day was making a start on cutting down the early flowering geraniums, the phaeum types. It looks tidier and stops them seeding everywhere. Yesterday I did some useful pruning. It's nice to be able to go back indoors and see an improvement in the view. In spite of last night's rain the garden is looking very dry.
