I hesitate to say it's a feminist attitude, rather, the attitude of a certain sort of feminist; that if something is wrong in a woman's life it must be the fault of a man. It's never stated but there's a strong implication throughout the book that her husband impeded her career. In fact, he seems to have been proud of her.
