P-pick up a Penguin book for a pound
Feb. 2nd, 2018 10:31 am
This month, Penguin Books introduces a new range: Penguin Modern. There will be fifty titles and obviously, at a pound each they are short books. But books it might not be easy to find elsewhere, with many foreign titles. You can read more about them and see pictures here.
‘fifty new books celebrating the pioneering spirit of the iconic Penguin Modern Classics series, with each one offering a concentrated hit of its contemporary, international flavour. Here are authors ranging from Kathy Acker to James Baldwin, Truman Capote to Stanislaw Lem and George Orwell to Shirley Jackson; essays radical and inspiring; poems moving and disturbing; stories surreal and fabulous; taking us from the deep South to modern Japan, New York's underground scene to the farthest reaches of outer space.’
In March, there will be a box set available, containing all fifty titles.

Aug. 7th, 2009 11:47 amI wrote here about matching books to a room. Now those Virago books are on a different (green!) shelf and I've brought in some green Penguins.

Plenty more where they came from!

May. 1st, 2008 05:34 pmThanks to my Flist I had a heads up for the latest BlogaPenguinClassic giveaway and this time I was lucky. But I've been allocated The Wind in the Willows! Whatever will I find to say about it that hasn't been said before?
Edit. Sorry, this link doesn't work properly but you can easily find the page.
