I was complaining recently about the big, fierce birds eating all the food I put out. Today, a robin was feeding the whole time I was enjoying a cup of coffee. Yes, I know he's almost invisible but it's proof.

Haven't seen a robin for a while.

What a shame! I never see starlings or sparrows, which you'd expect to be common.

One of my neighbours puts food out on one of the manhole covers in the garden and the big birds tend to eat that leaving my feeders for the tits, sparrows, starlings and robin (I have seen one recently). I've also got a family of long tailed tits for the first time ever. The doves often eat from the open dish on the feeding station but leave the hanging feeders alone. Occasionally a jackdaw or wood pigeon will chance it's luck on the feeder which usually ends in defeat :) It is lovely to see the birds, I'd miss them if they didn't visit daily.

I've always had robins in the garden here. Since I've had the beehive, it's become a favourite vantage point for them. I do prefer the little birds. Magpies are a nuisance; they steal my thatch!
